De este modo, los investigadores lograron intervenir la droga en las proximidades de la costa de la isla, situada en el océano Pacífico y relativamente cercana a Australia, y establecieron una conexión entre el cargamento ilegal y seis individuos, de los cuales dos son residentes de la mencionada isla y los otros cuatro son ecuatorianos, quienes probablemente eran los tripulantes de la embarcación que hundieron tras entregar la droga a lanchas menores, siguiendo el procedimiento habitual en tales situaciones.

La Policía ha indicado que los detenidos son originarios de Veisaru, en Bay, y que el descubrimiento de la droga se produjo en Vatia el pasado 15 de enero. Además, se ha afirmado que las investigaciones continúan con el objetivo de identificar a más sospechosos involucrados en este caso.

La investigación se inició aproximadamente hace tres meses y, para alcanzar este exitoso resultado policial, fue fundamental la cooperación de la DEA, que proporcionó información crucial sobre los acontecimientos.

El hecho relevante anterior en esta parte del mundo se produjo en agosto en las Islas Salomón, cuando un parlamentario que se encontraba de pesca descubrió otro de estos dispositivos, aunque ya vacío y abandonado, lo que sugiere que los semisumergibles son utilizados de manera habitual también en esta zona.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the authorities of the Fiji Islands announced that the 2,600 kilos of drugs confiscated on land were unloaded from one of these devices, in a case reminiscent of the one that occurred in A Pobra do Caramiñal last September.

Thus, investigators managed to intercept the drugs near the coast of the island, located in the Pacific Ocean and relatively close to Australia, and established a connection between the illegal shipment and six individuals, two of whom are residents of the mentioned island and the other four are Ecuadorians, who were likely the crew members of the vessel that sank after delivering the drugs to smaller boats, following the usual procedure in such situations.

The Police have indicated that the detainees are from Veisaru, in Bay, and that the discovery of the drugs occurred in Vatia on January 15. Furthermore, it has been stated that investigations are ongoing with the aim of identifying more suspects involved in this case.

The investigation began approximately three months ago, and to achieve this successful police outcome, the cooperation of the DEA was crucial, as they provided vital information about the events.

The previous relevant incident in this part of the world occurred in August in the Solomon Islands, when a parliamentarian who was fishing discovered another one of these devices, although already empty and abandoned, suggesting that semi-submersibles are also commonly used in this area.
