Los acontecimientos se produjeron alrededor de las 18.00 horas, cuando las patrullas de tráfico de los Mossos, siguiendo las instrucciones de los investigadores, detuvieron la marcha de un camión que transportaba marihuana por la AP-7, la principal vía que conecta el Mediterráneo español con el resto del continente europeo. Este incidente tuvo lugar en el kilómetro 247, a la altura de Tarragona.

Las detenciones se enmarcan dentro de la fase conclusiva de una investigación sobre un grupo criminal que almacenaba marihuana en una nave ubicada en la Selva del Camp (Baix Camp), con la intención de exportarla a Europa. Durante las indagaciones, los agentes observaron movimientos sospechosos de vehículos y personas en la mencionada nave. El jueves al mediodía, fueron testigos de cómo tres hombres descendían de una furgoneta y de un turismo, que poco tiempo después abandonaron a bordo de la furgoneta.

A continuación, un camión salió de la nave con un remolque, el cual fue cambiado por otro poco después. De forma inmediata, los agentes comenzaron a seguir el vehículo hasta que este se incorporó a la AP-7. Gracias a la coordinación del jefe de turno regional operativo, se estableció un extenso dispositivo policial que permitió a las patrullas de tráfico detener el camión de manera segura.

Una vez que se logró la interceptación, los agentes procedieron a identificar al conductor y al pasajero, quienes ofrecieron respuestas evasivas e incoherentes acerca de la carga que transportaban. Al abrir el remolque, los agentes notaron que la pared trasera mostraba evidencias claras de manipulación. Al medir su longitud exterior e interior, se constató una discrepancia anómala que superaba los 50 centímetros.

Ante estas pruebas, se sospechó de la existencia de un doble fondo y se activaron los Bomberos de la Generalitat para que abrieran la pared y verificaran su contenido. Tras la apertura, se encontraron cuatro fardos que contenían un total de 58 bolsas con 60 kilos de cogollos de marihuana envasados al vacío.

La droga incautada tendría un valor estimado de 120.000 euros en el mercado ilegal, cifra que podría duplicarse si se distribuyera a otros países europeos. Por este motivo, los Mossos d'Esquadra detuvieron al conductor del camión y a su acompañante como presuntos responsables de un delito contra la salud pública.

Esa misma noche, los agentes de la Unidad de Investigación de Reus realizaron una entrada y registro en la nave de la Selva del Camp, donde se incautaron de documentación personal relacionada con el grupo criminal, así como de inhibidores de frecuencia y localizadores GPS.

Finalmente, los investigadores solicitaron el cambio de partido judicial y los dos detenidos fueron puestos a disposición del juzgado de instrucción en funciones de guardia de Reus el día de ayer.

The arrests are part of the concluding phase of an investigation into a criminal group that stored marijuana in a warehouse located in Selva del Camp (Baix Camp), with the intention of exporting it to Europe. During the investigations, agents observed suspicious movements of vehicles and people at the mentioned warehouse. On Thursday at noon, they witnessed three men getting out of a van and a car, which they soon left aboard the van.

Subsequently, a truck left the warehouse with a trailer, which was changed for another shortly after. Immediately, the agents began to follow the vehicle until it merged onto the AP-7. Thanks to the coordination of the regional operational shift chief, an extensive police operation was established that allowed traffic patrols to safely stop the truck.

Once the interception was achieved, the agents proceeded to identify the driver and the passenger, who provided evasive and incoherent answers regarding the cargo they were transporting. Upon opening the trailer, the agents noticed that the rear wall showed clear signs of tampering. When measuring its exterior and interior length, an anomalous discrepancy exceeding 50 centimeters was confirmed.

Given this evidence, suspicion arose of a hidden compartment, and the Firefighters of the Generalitat were activated to open the wall and verify its contents. Upon opening, four bales containing a total of 58 bags with 60 kilos of vacuum-sealed marijuana buds were found.

The seized drugs would have an estimated value of 120,000 euros in the illegal market, a figure that could double if distributed to other European countries. For this reason, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested the truck driver and his companion as alleged responsible for a crime against public health.

That same night, agents from the Reus Investigation Unit conducted a search of the warehouse in Selva del Camp, where they seized personal documentation related to the criminal group, as well as frequency jammers and GPS trackers.

Finally, the investigators requested a change of judicial party, and the two detainees were placed at the disposal of the investigating court on duty in Reus yesterday.
